The target audience for this course consisted of drivers who were cited for aggressive driving. The purpose of the course was to educate aggressive drivers about the causes and consequences of aggressive driving and to modify their behavior towards safer driving practices.
My role was to perform an analysis of the relevant topics in aggressive driving and determine which of those should be included in the course. I developed design documents for each chapter that was used as a way to monitor overall instructional soundness, and as guidelines in developing storyboards, characters, scripts, animations, graphics, and assessments. I was the instructional designer on the project and worked with a Flash animator and a writer to produce the course.
I also served as the Flash/ActionScript developer to program the user interface, which communicated with a proprietary LMS and loaded content dynamically via Flash's XML object. I also used ActionScript to program various interactive activities used within the course.
The links below point to an outline of the design strategy for one of the modules, and to a demo of a few slides from the first module. The Flash content has been converted to video for demonstration purposes.
